HSE to Entrust Routine CPD Programme Development to AI
HSE University, together with the EdTech company CDO Global, is launching AI-based constructors to streamline the design of continuing professional development (CPD) courses. The new service will automate the preparation of teaching materials and assessment tools, significantly reducing the time and resources required of lecturers and instructional designers.
Traditionally, developing CPD programmes has been a labour-intensive process, demanding considerable effort in creating course content, assessment resources, and personalised learning pathways. The new AI service is designed to address these challenges by providing a tool for the rapid and effective generation of high-quality educational materials.
The AI constructors form an integrated solution comprising an AI lecture constructor, which automatically generates course structures, teaching materials, and descriptions of topics and modules based on specified learning objectives and the characteristics of the target audience, as well as an AI assessment standard constructor, which produces test assignments aligned with the intended competences, thus facilitating the evaluation of learners’ knowledge and skills.
The introduction of AI constructors will shorten course development timelines, as automation will greatly accelerate the preparation of teaching materials and assessment standards. This will also ease the workload of teaching staff, reducing routine tasks and enabling them to focus on more creative aspects of education. In addition, the AI service will enhance content quality by producing reliable, up-to-date educational resources while also offering scalability and multilingual functionality, allowing for the rapid creation of materials on a wide range of topics and in several languages. Well-structured and personalised resources will improve learner satisfaction, support knowledge acquisition, and boost motivation. Ultimately, the adoption of advanced technologies will strengthen HSE’s leadership in the field of continuing professional education and reaffirm its commitment to educational innovation.
Lyudmila Alexandrova, Project Lead,
HSE Operations Office for Continuing Professional Education
‘The introduction of AI constructors is transforming the way educational content is created, shifting CPD course development from manual labour to generation based on reliable sources. These high-tech services do more than relieve lecturers and managers of routine tasks: they form part of a didactic system in which learning objectives, content, assessment, and expertise are interconnected and serve to enhance the quality of HSE’s CPD programmes.’
The implementation of AI constructors will enable HSE University to further consolidate its position as a leader in continuing professional education, offering learners more relevant and higher-quality programmes.
Andrey Kondratiev, CEO, CDO Global
‘We are now entering a period of digital transformation in which delegating routine operations to artificial intelligence is an inevitable stage in the development of both organisations and individuals. DeepTalk is a strategic partner for the university in the AI era. Create courses in 15 minutes, generate assessment tools automatically, manage learners’ competences, and process written assignments without wasting time. Together, let us give lecturers back the most valuable resource of all—time for creative engagement with students: to inspire, to communicate, and to support.’

New Method for Describing Graphene Simplifies Analysis of Nanomaterials
An international team, including scientists from HSE University, has proposed a new mathematical method to analyse the structure of graphene. The scientists demonstrated that the characteristics of a graphene lattice can be represented using a three-step random walk model of a particle. This approach allows the lattice to be described more quickly and without cumbersome calculations. The study has been published in Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and Theoretical.
HSE Researchers Assess Creative Industry Losses from Use of GenAI
Speaking at the IPQuorum.Music forum on October 15, Leonid Gokhberg, HSE First Vice Rector, and Daniil Kudrin, an expert at the Centre for Industry and Corporate Projects of HSE ISSEK, presented the findings of the first study in Russia on the economic impact of GenAI on creative professions. The analysis shows that creators’ potential losses could reach one trillion roubles by 2030.
‘Fall into ML Has Firmly Established Itself as a Landmark Event in Russia’s AI Scene’
On October 24–25, 2025, the AI and Digital Science Institute of the HSE Faculty of Computer Science will host the fourth annual Fall into ML 2025 conference at the HSE Cultural Centre. The event is once again supported by its general partner, Sber. The focus this year is on breakthrough research and the future of fundamental AI.
Scientists Have Modelled Supercapacitor Operation at Molecular and Ionic Level
HSE scientists used supercomputer simulations to study the behaviour of ions and water molecules inside the nanopores of a supercapacitor. The results showed that even a very small amount of water alters the charge distribution inside the nanopores and influences the device’s energy storage capacity. This approach makes it possible to predict how supercapacitors behave under different electrolyte compositions and humidity conditions. The paper has been published in Electrochimica Acta. The study was supported by a grant from the Russian Science Foundation (RSF).
Designing an Accurate Reading Skills Test: Why Parallel Texts are Important in Dyslexia Diagnosis
Researchers from the HSE Centre for Language and Brain have developed a tool for accurately assessing reading skills in adults with reading impairments. It can be used, for instance, before and after sessions with a language therapist. The tool includes two texts that differ in content but are equal in complexity: participants were observed to read them at the same speed, make a similar number of errors, and understand the content to the same degree. Such parallel texts will enable more accurate diagnosis of dyslexia and better monitoring of the effectiveness of interventions aimed at addressing it. The paper has been published in Educational Studies.
HSE University Launches Development of Domestic 6G Communication Technologies Based on Sub-Terahertz Microelectronics
HSE University has launched a large-scale research and engineering initiative to develop domestic technologies for next-generation 6G communication systems. The project is being carried out by the team of the Strategic Technological Project 'Trusted 6G Communication Systems Technology Suite' implemented under the Priority 2030 programme.

Critique of Obscure Reason: Artificial Intelligence in the Perception of Mathematicians
Mathematicians at HSE University believe that there is no need to fear losing jobs because of the widespread use of AI, while at the same time they warn against uncritical acceptance of works and projects prepared with its help. AI, however, can be a useful tool in research, creating models and processing large volumes of information.
Students from HSE and Other Universities Carry Out Research Expedition at New Chersonesos
